Psychiatrist
Dr. Samieh Askari is a board-certified psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience providing compassionate and effective care to children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Askari’s approach is holistic, evidence-based, and dynamic. She integrates psychotherapy with mindful medication management, helping individuals navigate life’s challenges, find healing, and build resilience.
Dr. Askari earned her medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences. She completed her general psychiatry residency at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Rutgers University, where she was recognized as Chief Fellow and awarded Best Teacher of the Year.
After years of serving as faculty across child and adult inpatient units, psychiatric ER, IOP, PHP, and residential programs, Dr. Askari joined the Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins University for a one-year Developmental Neuropsychiatry Scholarship. There, she received advanced training in the psychiatric and behavioral care of individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism spectrum disorders and childhood-onset neuropsychiatric disorders. During this time, she also treated referral cases from across the U.S. and internationally.
Upon completing the program, she was appointed Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Askari now resides in Los Angeles, California, where she provides psychiatry and neuropsychiatry services to the community.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Askari is a published writer, contributing books and book chapters—including the Neuropsychopharmacology chapter in Swaiman’s Textbook of Pediatric Neurology—as well as numerous research articles. She has also presented rare and complex cases throughout her career in the field of medicine.
