After graduating from The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, Dr. Yokum completed her adult psychiatry residency at the University of South Florida in 2010, including a year focus in child psychiatry. Immediately after, she worked for a year as an outpatient psychiatrist for the Lakeland VA before taking a year off to focus on family. In 2012, Dr. Yokum began working as the Medical Director for Olympian Clinical Research, in Tampa, as well as moonlighting as an inpatient psychiatrist at Lakeland Regional Health. She has conducted and/or overseen over 80 clinical research trials studying mental health, including many on depression, women's health, and dermatologic disorders. While at Lakeland Regional Health, she worked on the Child and Adolescent inpatient unit, the Memory Disorder unit, Consult/Liaison service, and adult psychiatry unit. Dr. Yokum has a dedicated interest in depression, psychosomatic illness, developmental disorders including autism, and Alzheimer's disease. She is married with three children and continues to work in clinical research, as well as for Greenbrook TMS.
