Stigma : The stigma surrounding mental illness and the fear of being labeled "crazy" or "damaged" is what keeps many from ever verbalizing that they have a problem. Lack of Knowledge of Treatment Options : For those that do realize they may be experiencing mental health difficulties, sometimes they don't know the different avenues of treatment that are available, including medication, talk therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and Transcranical Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Therapy. Many of our patients have tried a variety of medications and talk therapy in the past but haven't experienced adequate relief from their depressive symptoms, so they assume that they will never feel better. Depression is treatable, and it's important to keep trying and exploring different treatment options. The majority of our patients who have been treatment-resistant with medications are finding that TMS Therapy is greatly improving their depressive symptoms. Many are achieving remission.
